Safe Steps is the only 24/7, family violence response centre in Victoria, providing a “state-wide entry point” for victim-survivors of domestic and family violence. Services include information and referral, crisis response, specialist family violence risk assessment, safety planning, Webchat, and access to supported crisis accommodation. Our vision is safety, support and respect for all victim-survivors of domestic and family violence.
Safe Steps are now working with 1800RESPECT Australia, to help deliver the national counselling, information and support service for people affected by domestic, family and sexual violence.
Job Description
THE ROLE
We are currently recruiting 2x Full Time Clinical Support Specialists to join the team! Applications will be assessed as they are received.
The Clinical Support Specialists will be part of the 1800 Respect Service and are responsible for organising and providing Clinical Supervision, Auditing, Coaching and Training to other Clinical Support Staff and Clinical Line Specialists staff and at times Counsellors.
Based at Safe Steps head office in North Melbourne
Full time hours, Saturday and Sunday shifts also available
SCHADS Social and Community Level 7.1 $58.23 (plus weekend penalty rates)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Accountabilities:
Provide Ongoing Coaching and Supervision to Counsellors, other Clinical Support Staff
Support the development and implementation of training programs
Conduct auditing
Coordinate Professional Development
Collaborate with Clinical Management: Work closely with management and other relevant stakeholders to identify organizational needs, set training objectives, and develop strategies for achieving those objectives.
Maintain Training Records: Ensure the team accurately document all training activities, including attendance, participation, and progress, in a secure and organized manner, ensuring that records are maintained in accordance with established guidelines.
Contribute to Program Development
Other
Promote and uphold Safe Steps' values of integrity, diversity, and empowerment.
Collaborate with services to provide comprehensive support for the LGBTIQ+, CALD, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Disabilities Communities.
Desired Skills and Experience
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Minimum 4 years trauma counselling experience (preferably telephone counselling) or full-time equivalent experience in specialised sexual assault, domestic and family violence counselling.
a robust understanding of federal and state-based legislation, including child protection legislation relevant to service delivery.
capacity to work and support staff, whilst remaining calm and embedding self-care practices.
be a registered clinical supervisor with a peak body.
Education/Certifications
A completed minimum Bachelors degree from an approved provider (Approved courses can be found via the relevant peak body). A Masters degree would be highly desirable.
be qualified counsellors registered with either the Australian Counselling Association (Level 4 or above) or psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA- Clinical); or
be qualified social worker registered with full AASW membership; or
be registered psychologists with AHPRA (General).
