In this Statement, a reference to “Organisation”, “we”, “our” or “us” includes Safe Steps Family Violence Response Centre and its current and future related bodies, corporate and affiliates. “You” or “your” refer to the person or persons giving this consent. Described below are the terms and conditions for obtaining access to certain parts of, or making use of certain features of Safe Steps' careers website

What will your information be used for
The information you provide on this site is collected by us for the purpose of considering you for employment or to update you on employment opportunities.

If your application is successful, we will retain your information as part of your employment records. If your application is unsuccessful, we may retain your information on file and may contact you if a suitable employment opportunity arises or if there are other positions available that may be of interest to you.

What information we need from you
To be considered for employment or to be updated on employment opportunities, you will be asked to provide us with personal information. This information includes but is not limited to:

  • Contact Details
  • Resume
  • Education background
  • Formal Qualifications
  • Employment History
  • Referees

If you choose not to provide any of the information requested, we may be unable to send you information, fully process your application or properly consider you for employment.

All information submitted to us must be true and correct. You must not post or upload inaccurate, incomplete, false or misleading information.

How your information will be collected
We collect information from you when you complete the online application form as well as at other stages during the selection process. Any competency/psychometric testing, questionnaires and professional references are also collected. We require this information to be able to consider your application within our organisation and we will be unable to contact you to advise of your progress with the selection process without this information.

Safe Steps undertakes its privacy and data protection obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) and relevant State and Territory based laws seriously. Safe Steps takes all reasonable steps in order to comply and protect the privacy of the information that it holds.

Safe Steps is committed to the protection of personal, sensitive and health information in accordance with privacy laws in the provision of its integrated services.

Storage and access of your information
Your on-line information will be held securely by a Third Party Data Centre, and is only available for access by us. No access will be provided to any other outside party. Should you wish to change any of your details, this must be done online through your candidate profile. It is your responsibility to keep your information current.

Who your information may be disclosed to
We may disclose the information you submit to referees, related organisations and entities, recruitment agencies, and other relevant organisations who perform services on our behalf during the recruitment process.

The disclosure of your information is for the purposes of processing your application for employment and/or identifying other employment opportunities for you. Other than as stated here, we will not disclose personal information you provide to any outside party, except where you provide your express permission to do so. Any offer of employment will be subject to you obtaining all necessary clearances, licenses and permits required for your position. 

Questions and complaints
If you wish to access or update your personal information you can do so via your candidate profile login. To make a complaint if you believe there has been a breach of the Australian Privacy Principles, you may contact our Privacy Officer for help at privacyofficer@safesteps.org.au.
