Safe Steps is the only 24/7, family violence response centre in Victoria, providing a “state-wide entry point” for victim-survivors of domestic and family violence. Services include information and referral, crisis response, specialist family violence risk assessment, safety planning, Webchat, and access to supported crisis accommodation.
Our vision is safety, support and respect for all victim-survivors of domestic and family violence.
Our practice is trauma-informed and guided by evidence. We provide services to all victim-survivors and recognise that most of our work is dedicated to the needs of women and children which reflects the gendered nature of domestic and family violence.
Job Description
We are looking for an experienced and values-driven Manager, Marketing, Communications & Digital Engagement(0.8 FTE) toprovide strategic leadership across communications, media and digital engagement.
THE ROLE
Reporting to the Group Director, Growth, this senior leadership role provides strategic oversight of Safe Steps’ marketing, communications, media and digital engagement.
You will shape the organisation’s public voice, protect and enhance its reputation, and drive effective engagement across digital platforms, media, and key stakeholders. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on delivery and executive-level influence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead Safe Steps’ organisation-wide marketing and communications strategy
Oversee media engagement, reputation management and crisis communications
Drive digital engagement, content strategy and brand consistency
Provide strategic advice to the Executive Leadership Team
Manage and support direct reports and external providers
Represent Safe Steps externally at sector forums and events
Desired Skills and Experience
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Proven experience in senior marketing, communications or digital leadership roles
Strong media, stakeholder engagement and strategic communication skills
Experience advising executives and influencing organisational direction
Excellent written and verbal communication capability
Ability to lead strategy while delivering operational outcomes
Alignment with Safe Steps’ values and trauma-informed practice
Current Working with Children Check and willingness to undergo a National Police Check.
