Safe Steps is the only 24/7, family violence response centre in Victoria, providing a “state-wide entry point” for victim-survivors of domestic and family violence. Services include information and referral, crisis response, specialist family violence risk assessment, safety planning, Webchat, and access to supported crisis accommodation.
Our vision is safety, support and respect for all victim-survivors of domestic and family violence.
Our practice is trauma-informed and guided by evidence. We provide services to all victim-survivors and recognise that most of our work is dedicated to the needs of women and children which reflects the gendered nature of domestic and family violence.
Job Description
We are looking for a Full Time experienced and values-driven Senior Manager – Fundraising & Philanthropy to lead the next phase of our fundraising journey. This is a newly created, project-funded role with the opportunity to shape Safe Steps’ long-term philanthropic strategy and income growth.
THE ROLE
Reporting to the Group Director, Growth, this senior leadership role will:
Lead the design and delivery of Safe Steps’ multi-year fundraising and philanthropy strategy
Drive income diversification through major donors, philanthropy, trusts, foundations and partnerships
Build strong, high-value relationships with donors, corporates and philanthropic networks
Establish governance frameworks, systems and capability for a growing fundraising function
Provide strategic advice and insight to the Executive Leadership Team
Represent Safe Steps externally and champion our impact and mission
This role combines high-level strategy with hands-on leadership and influence.
Desired Skills and Experience
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the development and delivery of Safe Steps’ multi-year fundraising and philanthropy strategy
Drive income diversification across major donors, philanthropy, trusts, foundations and partnerships
Build and manage high-value relationships with philanthropic, corporate and community stakeholders
Develop compelling cases for support, proposals, donor communications and impact reporting
Establish and oversee fundraising governance, systems, policies and ethical frameworks
Provide strategic advice and reporting to the Executive Leadership Team
Oversee fundraising performance, revenue forecasting and budget management
Build organisational fundraising capability and support future team growth
Represent Safe Steps externally at key events, forums and partnership meetings
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Proven experience in senior fundraising or philanthropy leadership
Strong track record in major donor, philanthropic and partnership income
Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
Strong written communication, including proposals and cases for support
Experience establishing fundraising systems, governance and best practice
Ability to operate strategically and deliver hands-on outcomes
Alignment with Safe Steps’ values and ethical practice.
Current Working with Children Check and willingness to undergo a National Police Check.
