Safe Steps is the only 24/7, family violence response centre in Victoria, providing a “state-wide entry point” for victim-survivors of domestic and family violence. Services include information and referral, crisis response, specialist family violence risk assessment, safety planning, Webchat, and access to supported crisis accommodation.

Our vision is safety, support and respect for all victim-survivors of domestic and family violence.

Our practice is trauma-informed and guided by evidence. We provide services to all victim-survivors and recognise that most of our work is dedicated to the needs of women and children which reflects the gendered nature of domestic and family violence.

 

Job Description

THE ROLE

We are looking for Part Time Coordinator - Data and Outcomes to join our growing team!

The Coordinator – Data and Outcomes will provide high level subject matter and strategic support for Safe Steps’ Data, Outcomes and Evaluation portfolios. The incumbent will have day to day responsibility for designing, developing and leading Safe Steps’ program of data analytics work and uplifting data and outcomes measurement capability across the organisation. This role will identify and prioritise work in line with the Safe Steps' strategy and will be responsible for developing new predictive data models, providing ad-hoc analysis and recommendations on how to improve data and outcomes capture to best leverage Safe Steps’ data assets. The incumbent will also project manage and supervise commissioned projects and consultant work in relation to outcomes measurement and evaluations.

PAY LEVEL: SCHADS Level 6 - Pay Point 1 ($55.72)
CONTRACT TYPE: Max Term 12 Month, Part Time (0.8 FTE) 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Data Science

  • Lead Safe Steps’ program of data analytical work across the organisation. This includes working closely with senior management to help identify requirements and opportunities and prioritising related activity.
  • Drive the development and implementation of data analytics and predictive models in line with organisational priorities through the use of advanced analytical and machine learning techniques.
  • Lead the development of and present findings from analytical models developed and use insights and findings to influence organisational strategy and help shape Safe Steps’ service delivery model.
  • Collaborate with members of the COE team and IT team to identify opportunities to develop and implement initiatives and projects to enhance Safe Steps’ forthcoming data warehouse with new sources of data, and to operationalise predictive models.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to develop, present and implement recommendations on improving data capture in new and existing organisational systems and processes.

Outcomes and Evaluation activities

  • Coordinate externally procured Safe Steps evaluations and/or projects related to outcomes measurement under the broad direction of the Executive Manager-Data and Outcomes.

Subject matter Leadership

  • Provide expert advice, support and ad-hoc data analysis to across the organisation as required, including developing briefs and submissions for senior leadership.
  • Support internal and external understanding of monitoring, evaluation, and impact through advice, resources, and support.

Desired Skills and Experience

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA 

  1. A relevant tertiary qualification or significant data and/or outcomes experience in the areas of health or human services or within Social Policy in Government.
  2. Strong experience in developing complex analytical models and in developing dashboards and presenting findings using contemporary Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau, Power BI or similar.
  3. Strong experience in Power Query (including M language), DAX and another programming language such as R or Python.
  4. Advanced knowledge of data base design and dimensional models as well as working knowledge of SQL.
  5. Strong experience in the development of analytical solutions including Extract – Transform – Load (ETL) processes within Microsoft 365 environments.
  6. Strong analytical skills related to evaluation or outcomes with skills in translating evaluative and data insights to support practice/policy and in probability and hypothesis testing.
  7. Willingness to obtain a Working with Children Check and National Police Check
