Safe Steps is the only 24/7, family violence response centre in Victoria, providing a “state-wide entry point” for victim-survivors of domestic and family violence. Services include information and referral, crisis response, specialist family violence risk assessment, safety planning, Webchat, and access to supported crisis accommodation.
Our vision is safety, support and respect for all victim-survivors of domestic and family violence.
Our practice is trauma-informed and guided by evidence. We provide services to all victim-survivors and recognise that most of our work is dedicated to the needs of women and children which reflects the gendered nature of domestic and family violence.
Job Description
THE ROLE The Crisis Response Support Worker – Residential services will work as part of the Victorian state-wide Family Violence service, providing support to case managers and adult and child victim-survivors accommodated by the service.
PAY LEVEL: SCHADS Level 4 - Pay Point 1 ($43.08) CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent Full Time
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage food supply for the supported accommodation, including and not limited to online ordering of grocery items for delivery/click and collect, managing Foodbank orders, donated food items and collection of food items when necessary
Manage the collection, storage and distribution of material aid items including bed linen, towels, clothing, toiletries, toys as required
Support with the set up of phones and logging of phones, Myki/Travel Pass top ups
Transport women and children to and/or from local appointments when required
Provide support to Family Violence Crisis Specialists with obtaining quotes for flexible support packages as required, assist with taxi bookings and other related admin tasks
Assist with client intake into and exit from units
Assist with maintenance requests
Desired Skills and Experience
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA - Essential
Demonstrated experience in a similar role including serviced base/client support and administrative support
Understanding of the specialist family violence sector in Victoria
Demonstrated ability to work in a challenging and demanding environment, including working within agreed timeline parameters and maintain boundaries
Well developed oral and written communication skills including ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of cultural and social groups
Capacity for self motivation, ability to cope with changing work functions with a ‘can-do’ attitude
Current Driver’s Licence
A current Working With Children Check and willingness to undergo a National Police Check
